Oh the places you’ll go….
Not long goalsafter we decided to be Positively Rebellious and Rebelliously Positive. I started dreaming of travel and where we might go. This was second nature to me, often my brain comes up with thousands of ideas daily and it can be slightly distracting.
Now for the most part, many of those ideas I never mention. They just rattle around in my head until useful or transformed into a better idea.
The next step it seemed to me was to call a Family Meeting. Now those ideas I’d been dreaming would come in handy.
I would suppose I’ve been to way too many family meetings where my questions, comments, and suggestions are met with blank stares and crickets. Most of the time our family meetings end up me having a conversation with myself while the tribe watches. This time I would have places and ideas in my pocket to light a small fire with a few people if needed. And hopefully it would spread.
But to where?
We are avid fans of the TV show Grimm. Filmed in Portland , Oregon it is a family favorite. Due to the shows sudden and abrupt ending soon, we are therefore forced into finding a new Friday night family ritual. Nevertheless it is somewhere we all would love to visit. Ok so there’s one place.
I was born in Seattle a long, long time ago and would love to go back. Portland and Seattle are close enough to do in a week long trip. That was another one in my ever growing arsenal of places that are special to us.
Some other places mentioned at our Family meeting along with Portland and Seattle (my suggestions) were the Grand Canyon, The island of Guam, Mount Rushmore, The Smokey Mountains, Nashville, and Hawaii, Alaska, Us Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico as special places to someone.
All easily accessible with out a passport, as one in our tribe is proving difficult to obtain one. Our thought is we could take 3 years and travel our own country. Seeing her beauty and in 2020 we can go oversees.
Goals, Goals, Goals
So for now that would be our plan. Now plans can change and morph or transition into something else as we learn and grow. I think it is important to have a place to start, a beginning so to speak.
We also want to have milestones and positive experiences leading up to our goals. Were thinking traveling local will give us a chance to work out the kinks, still feel safe while finding our way and make some fantastic memories with the kids young and old.
As for now the main goal would be to travel overseas. It is vague but knowing we have a few years until that is feasible we at least have time to plan, dream and look forward to seeing those plans blossom with our hard work.
